On the first day of TBU11 in Manchester there will be a very useful panel discussion on a rather important topic; "How To Make Money From Your Travel Blog"
On the panel will be . . .
They will be talking about their experiences in the blogging industry, how they make money, the pitfalls, the do's & dont's.
It is all set to be a great discussion and one that will be very useful for bloggers.
You'll be able to ask plenty of questions during the discussion but we'd also like you to give us an idea now of what you want to know about making money from your blog.
So please leave your questions in the comments below, including any ideas of areas to cover.
Thanks!
Oliver

Permalink Reply by Gary Bembridge on March 18, 2011 at 8:13am on my blog Tips for Travellers at http://www.TipsForTravellers.com, I have been using Google Adsense and also placed some widgets that advertisers have approached me to run.
But in reality most of my income comes from YouTube videos that I embed. It seems that this generates by far most of the income. I guess due to the volume of traffic they get.
I resist running guest and sponsored posts as I feel they weaken the independence and the "my voice".
I run Amazon links, but they generate very little
So what is the biggest / single most important thing I shoul try and do nowto making more income off my blog?
Permalink Reply by Megan Eaves on March 21, 2011 at 10:25am I agree with Gary's questions about the most important thing to try in making income. And am also very curious about his strategy with YouTube videos. I didn't know that embedding YouTube vids could make money? Is this from the GoogleAds that run at the bottom of the vids or something? More info on that please!
For my blogs, I am a member of two major affiliate ad sites, as well as Google Adsense, but so far, haven't seen a single drop of income from any of them, despite upwards of 200 hits a day (which I know isn't lots in the scale of some websites). So, basic information on how to monetize these sites is what I'm looking for. Where should the ads appear on the site? Are text links better than visual links? Etc.

Permalink Reply by Paul Corbett on March 22, 2011 at 11:40am As someone who doesn't have any ads yet, what works?
Which are the best affiliate sites and what sort of income do you expect from each based on the visits to your site.
Permalink Reply by Butterflyist on March 25, 2011 at 10:11am I'd like to ask the following:
1) The common ways to make money from a blog are affiliate marketing, Google adsense and advertising, and also the creation of your own product such as eBook further down the line. To what extent do you feel these different areas should be concentrated on?
2) In operating more traditional advertising on your site - how do you work best with advertisers and how do you approach them? What kind of rates are expected for advertising on blogs?

Permalink Reply by Karthick Madhavan on September 4, 2011 at 6:37am In order to make money from affiliates links we need to have more traffic, How generate traffic in a cheaper way? Stumbleupon.com provides an opportunity to promote our site in a cheap way, Just 0.5 cents per page view, if you go premium its gonna cost you 0.10 cents per page view, You will have to start a campaign like you do with Adwords, Before starting a stumble upon ad campaign look up in Google how stumble upon works,
Stumble upon can even generate 100k visitors in a day or just 20 visits a day, its all about how users review our website, so key is to have good content on our blogs and some good high resolution pictures on the site,
The more stumbles we get, the more visitors it generates to the site, thus will generate income from affiliate links or can even attract Paid ads from Travel related companies.
I'm starting a campaign soon with stumbleupon soon, i have planned to start the campaign with $20, lets see where it takes me.
Welcome to WanderPost - Thats my site.
Permalink Reply by Karthick Madhavan on September 4, 2011 at 6:44am Have anyone of you tried www.hotelscombined.com Affiliate ?? They pay 50 cents to $ 1 per lead, i know its very less, but in the log run it will make more bucks into our account,
Visitors does'nt need to buy anything with hotelscombined.com, we get paid for just referring, and the cookie is live for 365 days, every time a visitor click the link we get 50 cents for the lead. its simple and good.
This works more like adsense but hotelscombined pay more than adwords.
Happy blogging all,
Regards,
Kart.
