Many of us write blogs with a food focus. I've been at it for just over a year and sometimes I find writing about food can be difficult - translating any of the 5 senses can be difficult to put into language. As a writer who usually focuses on more creative writing (other than my blog) these are problems/details that we didn't have to think about as much in creative writing classes.

To keep my restaurant reviews interesting I always have to include a narrative or else I feel it suffers and it is what I am interested in as a blog reader & general writer. I also find that a thesaurus is handy when I am stumped for describing tastes and textures.

What are some of your techniques for food writing?

What food writer do you look up to/emulate?

Do you keep a food journal when you're at restaurants?

Any advice?
