The Travel Bloggy Awards

We are really excited to announce the first annual Travel Bloggy Awards!  They were developed exclusively for the travel blogging community.

 

These awards will be quite special.  The winners will be voted for by this great community of travel bloggers.  You guys decide who wins, not me.  In fact we want you involved at every step of the process.  Here's where we need you . . .

 

Categories

We want you to come up with some great categories for the awards.  There will be 8 in total and whilst we have some suggestions, please give us your input in the space below.

  • Most Influential Travel Blogger: the blog that influences & inspires you more than others.  Could be when you started out or even one that you wouldn't be able to put down today were it a book (or on an iPad!)
  • Best Photo-Travel Blogger: which blogger takes the best photos (doesn't have to be a full time professional photographer.
  • Best Video-Travel Blogger: which blogger makes the best travel videos in your eyes?
  • Best Individual Travel Post: which single post did you like more than any other in the past 12 months?
  • Best Collaboration with Industry (Tourist Board, PRs or Travel Company): which individual partnership between a travel blogger & industry stood out for you? 
  • Best Use of Social Media in a Beach Setting: A light hearted award, to showcase a bloggers creativity & humour.

What do you think?  Your feedback on the above is important.   Please give us your ideas for categories

 

Deadline for category ideas is Thursday 16th June!

 

  • Once the deadline has passed we will announce the finalised Categories, as suggested by you.
  • Nominations for awards will be open from 11th July for 1 month.
  • At that time we will advise you of the procedure to nominate & how to be nominated
  • Voting will only take place on the night of the awards (so no pestering on twitter or facebook for votes)

 

Every winner gets an award trophy and we'll announce the prizes nearer to the time.

 

Awards will be given out during the Travel Bloggers Unite conference in Innsbruck on Friday 26th August.

 

You don't have to be present at the conference to win.  Yet voting will take place on the night, so those present may have an advantage.  But our conferences rock, so why wouldn't you want to be there? :)

I don't see "best story telling/writing" on that list. Also, I'd love to see "influential" better defined, it's a word that doesn't really have much meaning.

Perhaps also a Best Designed blog - Content is one thing, however bloggers also work hard at designing their site/brand to stick out from the rest

Nope, anyone can win.

No restrictions.

BUT - voting will only take place on the night to avoid pester power etc . . .

So one would presume that nominees at the conference have more chance of being voted for than those that can't attend.  By default, if you are there in person ppl more likely to vote for you (I guess).

Also it will be nice to get the trophy, prizes & applause from the audience wouldn't it?

 

All set to be a great night and I am really trying to get a VERY VERY cool venue :-)
