Back to Nature in Brunei: from oil largesse to ecotour hotspot.

"I smell a lizard," the guide announces from the bow of the boat, and he's right. Moments later, there's a resounding splash between the mangrove roots, followed by the form of a giant water monitor,…

Facebook Profile Pictures - What Does Yours Say?

What does your Facebook profile picture say about you?

I remember when I first joined Facebook, it was all about having a crazy profile picture that got you noticed. No matter if it was from a drunken night out or crazy travel experience, it went on there. I didn't give much thought for what people thought, after all, it 'was' (and supposedly still is) my own personal profile.

But…

I got my taste for this style of travel completely by accident when American Airlines upgraded me due to an oversold flight. And my luck of getting upgrades has continued for a myriad of reasons. Here…

Cozumel Escape and Plum Lemon Sangria

As my friend Amy and I drove along the coast of Cozumel, I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the tumbling turquoise waves crashing onto the white sand beaches. The sun was blazing hot, toasting us the moment we stepped out of the car, but the salty ocean breezes cooled our skin and tossed our hair and all I could do was stare in awe and wonder.

I had just been through a gutting time in my life and my heart was raw and aching. Tears… Continue

Strolling in Germany and Easy Crockpot Sausages with Sauerkraut

I’ve been infatuated with Germany since I was a little girl listening wide-eyed to Dad reading us stories of courage and sacrifice from World War II. I was horrified by the Nazi’s but deeply impacted and inspired by those brave few who resisted their own government, risking their lives and fortunes to protect those the Nazi’s wished to destroy.

I became a German history buff, scouring library bookshelves for biographies, histories, and novels that would bring this country to life for… Continue
