Home from Africa long enough to shower...now off to...

Nepal, Bhutan, Burma and Borneo.

Until recently, the tiny Asian kingdom of Bhutan remained tucked away in total isolation from the rest of the world. That segregation helped to preserve its deep Buddhist traditions, importance of the family and pristine landscapes. It’s also made it a fascinating country to study.

Intrepid Gorillas

In the midst of the gorillas in the mist

At TBU Umbria, I met the folks from Intrepid travel. They had a contest giving away 16 day adventure in Equatorial Africa, the highlight of which was to trek into the gorillas in Rwanda. Lucky me, I won. I am having a great time. This is not my normal style of travel, camping and riding on a truck for hours at a time, but it is interesting, and the Intrepid crew is excellent.
