Nominations for the 2012 Travel Bloggy Awards are now open!

Travel bloggers and travel blogging continues to be adopted by many travel brands, tourist boards and PR firms as a valuable method of promotion and communication.  The Travel Bloggy Award nominations are your opportunity to recognise the excellent work and efforts of your fellow travel bloggers over the previous 12 months.

The Categories

There are 11 awards that will be announced at the award ceremony on Saturday 8th September, in Porto.  These categories are as follows

Best Travel Writing

Who makes you want to return to their blog, time and time again, simply because they are a great writer?  It doesn't matter if they are a new blogger or have been blogging for many years, if their writing inspires you then nominate them!

Best Travel Photography Blog

Which blog has the best travel photos?  They needn't be a professional photographer, but the quality of their photos should stand out.

Best Travel Video Blog

Who is known for making awesome travel videos?

Best Newcomer Blog

The travel blog you nominate should be no more than 12 months old.  This will be monitored by a WHOIS lookup on the domain name.

Best Innovation in Travel Blogging

Which blogger (or bloggers) have created and/or brought innovation to travel blogging?  Who has stepped out of their comfort zone and tried something for the first time that has helped, or could help change travel blogging?  You could nominate an individual or a group in this category.

Best Food Travel Blog

Which blog makes you hungry just by reading about, or looking at the photos of the food they encounter on their travels?  Food should feature heavily on the blog which you nominate.

Best Luxury Travel Blog

Which luxury blog makes you think, "I want to go there"? Who blogs about the comfort and extravagance of luxury travel better than anyone else?

Best Adventure Travel Blog

Which blog is true to their name and adventurous?  Do they inspire you to 'get out there' and do something adventurous?

Best Family Travel Blog

Which blog has the most useful information about travelling as a family?  Who inspires you to travel with your family? This category is also valid for single parent travel blogs.

Best Budget Travel Blog

Do you go to this blog knowing you are going to get great tips and ideas on travelling whilst on a budget?  Do they consistently stay true to their name?

Best Specialist Travel Blog

This category represents any travel niche not mentioned above.

Unfortunately you cannot nominate yourself, someone else will have to do that for you.  But you can nominate others by this simple form.

These are awards for the blogging community. You must have your own blog and twitter account to nominate. Nominations are invalid if you use the blog url and twitter account of the person you are voting for.

How Are The Winners Choosen?

• Nominations are open now and close at 1700 (BST) on Friday 10th August.
• The 5 blogs with the most nominations in each category will become finalists.
• The finalists will then be judged by a judging panel.
• They are from a cross section of industry expert, who have all supported travel blogging for a number of years.
• The full list of judges will be announced very shortly.
• The award winners will be announced at the 2012 Travel Bloggy Award ceremony on Saturday 8th September.
• You do not need to be present to be a winner, but you will miss out on a great night!
